Leg = nothing, just try to get a hit and runner be heads up I'll keep it basic for the sake of this discussion and just talk about offensive signals.įor the younger levels - I have my signal be the first and last signal I give. I also agree with all the above and will add my 2 cents. The coach can also signal a # with his fingers for the designated sign to put it on at any time without the indicator. “How ya do?” = bunt for base hit (drag bunt, push bunt, slap bunt) Touching the top of helmet = sign is understoodĬircling the finger = player needs the sign repeated Wiping the pant leg = take the next pitch Wiping the arms = Previous sign is cancelledĢ hands to the bill of the cap = repeat the same signal called on previous pitch Try to make contact and hit the ball on the ground. Indicator = Touching the bill of the cap for a SECOND time.ġ touch and double fists = Suicide squeeze buntģ touches = Hit and run hitter must swing at the pitch, even if it is a ball. When the hitter and base runners have received the signs, they will touch the top of their helmet to indicate that they understand. The touches will be ended by a clap of the hands. Following the indicator, count the number of touches. A sign is “on” when the right hand touches the bill of the cap for the SECOND time. They are doing the best they can and are trying to make the game enjoyable for all. Here's some signals I have used in the past. Just keep playing and listen to the refs regardless of whether you agree with the call or not. Getting angry, yelling at the ref, and throwing a fit does no good and will not help you or your team. Basketball is a difficult game to referee. Without officials the game would be no fun at all and they are doing the best they can. Keep in mind that the referees are there to make the game better.
